How to register

The process of registering for IELTS to receiving your results can be broken down into 8 easy steps:

Create an account in the IELTS USA online registration system
Select the test type (Academic or General Training)
Find a test center location and select a test date
Complete the online registration form and submit payment
Receive a confirmation email of your registration and payment
Prepare for your test with our practice materials
Arrive in-person to your IELTS test center and complete the test
Receive your IELTS test results

Things to remember

Registration and results

When registering, make sure you enter your contact details correctly.
Otherwise, your test results may not be sent to the correct address.
You can add up to 5 organizations where you would like your test results to be sent before or after you take the test.

Disability

If you have a disability or require special arrangements,
please tell your test center at least 6 weeks before your test.

Transfers / Cancellations / Refunds / Failure to Attend for IELTS on Paper AND IELTS on Computer tests in the USA:

Requests to transfer/postpone or cancel your IELTS must be submitted in writing by email to the test center where you have registered.

Transfer/postponement or cancellation requests made via telephone will NOT be accepted.

Transfers

IELTS on Paper: Transfer requests received more than 5 weeks prior to the test date will be charged a transfer fee of up to 25% of the cost of the test.
IELTS on Computer: Transfer requests received more than 3 weeks prior to the test date will be charged a transfer fee of up to 25% of the cost of the test.

IELTS on Paper: Transfer requests received less than 5 weeks prior to the test date due to a medical condition or exposure to COVID-19 will be rescheduled and will be charged a transfer fee of up to 25% of the cost of the test (Proof of circumstance must be provided, such as a letter from the local health authority or a physician).
IELTS on Computer: Transfer requests received less than 3 weeks prior to the test date due to a medical condition or exposure to COVID-19 will be rescheduled and will be charged a transfer fee of up to 25% of the cost of the test (Proof of circumstance must be provided, such as a letter from the local health authority or a physician).

IELTS on Paper: Transfer requests from an IELTS on paper to an IELTS on computer test received more than 5 weeks prior to the original test date will be charged a transfer fee of up to 10% of the cost of the test.
IELTS on Computer: Transfer requests from an IELTS on computer to an IELTS on paper test received more than 3 weeks prior to the original test date will be charged a transfer fee of up to 10% of the cost of the test.

IELTS on Paper & Computer: A second transfer request due to a medical condition or exposure to COVID-19 will result in cancellation of your registration and a refund of 50% of the cost of the test will be refunded if the test center is notified prior to the test date.
