How to Register
To view upcoming test dates and availability for IELTS in Newark, NJ, search the IELTS USA Online Registration System and register online.
To complete your registration, you will need a digital copy of your Identification* and a credit or debit card to complete payment for your test registration.
*The only acceptable forms of ID for IELTS are a valid (unexpired) passport (primary ID), US permanent resident card (green card), or US employment authorization card (EAD card). You cannot use a driver’s license or school ID to register for IELTS. IELTS for UKVI / Life Skills: A valid passport is the ONLY acceptable form of ID for IELTS for UKVI tests.

We cannot accept transfer or cancellation requests by phone.

COVID-19 Mitigation Policies
Please be advised that test takers must travel to the test center to take the test IN-PERSON. You can view a summary of IELTS COVID-19 Precautions for Test Day (PDF, 527 KB) at the IELTS USA Newark, NJ Test Center to ensure the health and safety of our test takers and staff.
All test takers and staff are required to wear a face mask which completely covers their mouth and nose while at the test center.
Upon entering the test venue, all test takers and staff will have their temperatures checked with a no-contact thermometer. Individuals with a temperature of 100.4°F/38°C or higher will not be allowed entry to the center. Test takers will have to reschedule their tests.
Individuals with visible symptoms (cough, nasal congestion, rashes, etc.) will be asked to reschedule their test.
All test takers will be required to maintain a distance of six feet or more from all other persons in the test venue while standing in line, completing registration, sitting in the waiting area, taking the test, and moving about the test venue.
Any accompanying friends or family members will not be allowed to enter the test venue. They must wait outside the building.
Location, Transportation and Accommodation
The IELTS USA Newark, NJ Test Center is conveniently located near several major highways in the Central Business District of downtown Newark, New Jersey, a few minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike and 5 miles (approximately 25 minutes) from Newark Liberty International airport (EWR).

Transportation
The test center is located less than 1 mile from Newark Penn Station- which caters to PATH trains coming from New York City and NJ Transit trains from all regions of New Jersey.
Parking
On-site parking is available at our test center for $15 for the entire day and ONLY CASH is accepted. Detailed parking information will be provided to all registered test takers 3 to 4 days ahead of the test day. The parking lot is overseen by our building’s commercial property management. IELTS USA is not responsible for parking.
Directions
The parking lot is located behind the building. From Broad Street, turn on to Fulton Street. Turn left at the roundabout near the end of Fulton Street. Make a right into the parking lot. You will see a booth with the "570 Broad Street" address on it. Please note that you MUST check in with the parking attendant before entering the building or your car will be TOWED. Once parked, enter the building directly from the parking lot. The door is always locked, so you will have to press the call button on the door. Additionally, there are other paid parking lots in downtown Newark near the test center. Street parking is also available.

Getting Your Results
Results for IELTS on computer will be sent to you by postal mail three to five days after the test. Please note, IELTS results from our test center are sent by First Class USPS mail and a tracking number is not available. Depending on your location, results can take a week or more to arrive.

Having Your Scores Re-Marked (EOR)
If you are not happy with your IELTS results, you can apply for a review and re-mark of your score(s) through a service called an Enquiry on Results (EOR) within 6 weeks from the test date.

If you wish to take the next step to have your IELTS re-marked, you will need to email the test center at newark@ieltsusa.org.

The EOR fee will be refunded if the review results in a score change.
Note the re-mark can take between 2 to 21 days to process and receive an outcome, and you will be notified by email when the results have been reviewed.
Requesting Additional Copies of Your Test Report Form (TRF)
Test takers are entitled to request five (5) copies of the Test Report Form to be sent directly to recognizing organizations, within 2 years of test date.
General Training test takers may also request one (1) additional Test Report Form free of charge if needed for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Copies of Test Report Forms in excess of the number indicated above will be charged an administrative fee of US$10.00 per Test Report Form.
Test Report Forms to domestic US addresses are posted by USPS with no tracking information and at no additional cost. You may opt to request expedited shipping, for a fee of US$40.00 for addresses in the US. Expedited shipping includes tracking information.
Requests to ALL International addresses must be shipped via international carrier at a cost of US$100 per international address. International shipping includes tracking information.
