IELTS for UKVI (Academic) delivered on computer

A limited number of test centres are now offering the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) online. (Please note that you will still be able to complete an IELTS paper test, if you prefer.) Online tests are available in:

Bangladesh Brazil China Hong Kong India
Japan Kuwait Malaysia Nigeria Pakistan
Philippines Russia Saudi Arabia South Korea Taiwan
Thailand Turkey Vietnam UAE UK

The test will be held on selected dates throughout the year and registration will close one week before the test date, subject to availability of places.

Test takers who choose the new option will take their Listening, Reading and Writing components using a computer. The Speaking test will remain face-to-face, as we believe it is the most effective way of assessing speaking skills and prompts a more realistic performance from test takers.

All other aspects of the test are identical, whether it is taken on paper or on computer, including:
  • Content
  • Timings
  • Question types
  • Marking
  • Speaking test delivery (face-to-face)
  • Security arrangements

You can find detailed information on the format of the IELTS test here.

All test takers will receive the same Test Report Form.
